Bhangra Extravaganza with RSVP
In association with the Asian Arts Agency and Exeter Friends of Gujarat - An evening of Indian music, dancing and fabulous food.
After a summer season at Glastonbury, Womad and festivals far and wide, RSVP are returning to Exeter Corn Exchange to delight and excite with their big Bhangra beats and engaging, interactive vibe.
With musicians drawn from one family, wholly rooted in an authentic living tradition, yet unafraid to innovate, this is the ultimate celebratory Indian music. It unites centuries old classic Bhangra with contemporary instrumentation and styles such as rock, rap, funk, folk and reggae to create an exciting new sound.
The show comes with an introduction to Bhangra dance - everyone's included with RSVP's emphasis on partying Punjabi style. It's always guaranteed to get even the most reluctant on their feet and dancing fit to drop.
The evening will kick off with a delicious Punjabi Thali meal, provided by Exeter Friends of Gujarat. This will consist of five vegetarian dishes served with basmati rice, Indian bread, poppadum, chutneys, pickles and raitha. The meal will be followed by an aromatic pudding lashed with saffron pistachios or mangos. Food served at 8pm (don't be late!).
Exeter Friends of Gujarat will be donating part of their proceedings to Shelter Box.
