The Blues House is a non-profit making monthly evening promoting blues music in Devon. Hosted by musician, Jeremy Way(singer/guitarist for mid Devon blues band, Far From the Delta), the evenings start with a house band (who's members kindly give up their time for free), followed by an open blues jam, where anyone can give it a go. It is based in Crediton, so it's fairly central for the whole of Devon, where most places are no further than an hour's drive, so hoping to reach out to the whole of Devon. The aim is to support local blues acts and give them a base of blues fan's to reach out to. The Blues House also is happy to help and support other blues events, especially in the local area. With 2000 and increasing Facebook friends there is a good base already for such events reaching out to a great number of people and The Blues House has already helped share some such events to a wider audience.
There is a charge of £3, the money first goes towards the hard working house band members to buy them a drink, some promotion, the rest is saved in the hope that The Blues House can book local blues bands in the future and secure their fee. The organizers and the bar do not take any of this money, in fact the organizers are doing it for free as the benefit of supporting live blues locally is the goal. The first evening in June had good support and The Blue House hopes it can build on this. We are hoping that once the evening is well established that we can put on extra nights with local blues acts, if it does really well, we will even think of doing a small blues festival in future years.
The Blues House happens every second Thursday of the month at Buccaneers Bar in Crediton, which many years ago was the cinema for Crediton. Around 200 capacity venue with plenty of seating, this is a spacious and comfortable establishment. They have a good sized, proper stage, which can comfortably fit most bands, even ones with horn sections etc. They have a pa system, lighting and a drum kit. Buccaneers Bar already have a very successful jazz night called The Moon Jazz and Blues Club, which also happens once a month, every third Thursday and they have managed to do so well that they are able to put on extra jazz evenings.

The Blues House happens every second Thursday of the month, 8-11pm, with music from a house band followed by an open to all blues jam. £3 entry. At Buccaneers Bar, East Street, Crediton, Devon, EX17 3AZ
