Budleigh Jazz Festival 2013
The Budleigh Jazz Festival 2013 brings three nights of live Jazz to suit all tastes to the town of Budleigh Salterton.
The exciting line-up this year features:
Friday 19 April - Both of the Devon Jazz Youth Orchestras 1 and 2
These students will display their abilities under the direction of Brian Moore. They play big band arrangements including those from the Count Basie Band.It is not often one can hear a live big band playing Jazz today.

Saturday 20 April - An All Star evening features…Trumpet and Flugel Horn, Bruce Adams
Bruce has played with many famous Jazz Stars,including Dick Hyman, Benny Carter and Bob Wilbur. He appears with the Scottish Radio Orchestra and the BBC Big Band and has co-led a band with Alan Barnes. He joins Alan Barnes on stage, making a welcome return from last year. Alan who plays Alto and Baritone Sax is the consummate musician. His enviable technique enables him to improvise with great speed and fluidity. He has played in the Humphrey Lyttleton band and the Pizza Express Modern Jazz Sextet and toured the USA with Bryan Ferry and Warren Vache.In Budleigh last year he partnered tenor saxist Scott Hamilton in a memorable evening.
These artistes are backed by the Craig Milverton Trio. Craig who lives in Exeter was voted best British Jazz pianist in 2011. Craig has also accepted the post of President of the Budleigh Jazz Festival on the sad death of Sir Richard Rodney Bennett.

Sunday 21 April - Clare Teal and her band
Clare who hails from Yorkshire studied music on electronic organ and clarinet before choosing music at Wolverhampton University where she found her voice.In 2005 she won British Jazz Vocalist of the year and in 2006 BBC Jazz vocalist of the year. She is the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Big Band Special and Friday Night is Music Night and also Sunday Night at 10. She also appeared on T.V at the 2012 Proms at the Albert Hall in the “Hooray for Hollywood “evening. Her pianist M.D. is Grant Windsor.
