Classics Galore! is held every two years, and has now established itself as one of Exeter’s largest indoor concerts, attracting over 1000 people.

The concerts are specially arranged for those with an interest in the lighter side of classical music, and contain nothing that is heavy, or obscure. Items are specially chosen to be of no more than seven or eight minute’s duration, and usually immediately recognisable – although one or two work are included that are perhaps not so well known, but nevertheless enjoyable. Film and other music is not forgotten, and in past years music from Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dambusters and similar lighter items have been included. Even theme tunes from radio and television have mixed with Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Puccini – so everyone is catered for!

The next Classics Galore! concert will be at The Great Hall on Saturday November 9th, and will once more include The Lympstone SW Telecoms Brass Band, the Ottery St Mary Choral Society, the chorus of St David’s Players, and – for the first time – the specially selected Classics Galore! Symphony Orchestra, comprising top musicians from the Exeter and East Devon areas.
