The Fortunes - Past & Present
Join us at the Exmouth Pavilion On Thursday 18th June as the The Fortunes celebrate 51 years in show business; with their fabulous 2015 “Past and Present” show. New Songs - new stories - new anecdotes all brought together with narration & video projection from the era.
The “Past and Present” 2015 show will bring back not only your memories of the swinging 60’s, but also the golden age of the 70’s, and a surprise or two.
Many hit songs not only from The Fortunes, but also hits from Marmalade, Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas, Love Affair, Badfinger, and so many more!
The Fortunes and 'Brum Beat' followed hard on the heels of Mersey Beat and the sounds coming from Capital City, with groups like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and the Kinks hitting the pop charts, but The Fortunes had something special! Fabulous vocals, lush harmonies and counter melodies made their hits instantly recognisable!
Originally named The Clifftones, The Fortunes were formed by pop impresario Reg Calvert at his Pop School based at Clifton Hall, in Rugby. They began as a vocal/harmony trio with founding members Rod Allen, Glen Dale, and Barry Pritchard. In 1963, they switched to electric guitars and were joined by drummer Andy Brown along with keyboard player David Carr. Calvert groomed the Fortunes as a close-harmony unit with a smoother sound than their Merseybeat rivals. They signed with Decca in '63 and their first single was a cover of The Jamies 1958 U.S. hit "Summertime, Summertime"
“Past and Present” is a two hour show full of hits, anecdotes, stories, and fun! It’s a must see show! So put on your dancing shoes and dance your way down memory lane with The Fortunes........
