For nearly 25 years, Exeter has been twinned with Yaroslavl, a city in Russia, North-East of Moscow. This is a most unusual link as there are very few English cities linked to Russia.

Each year a group of Russian guests are hosted by English families and a group from Exeter spend a week in Yaroslavl, staying in Russian homes. It is a wonderful opportunity for both English and Russians to experience everyday life in an ordinary family and for everyone it is an unforgettable experience.

Every December the Twinning Committee holds a Christmas Fayre in the city's historic Guildhall on Exeter's High Street. There will be a cafe, a tombola, a raffle and various stalls, including Russian goods (Russian dolls, spoons etc.) which would make interesting Christmas gifts.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Twinning Association, please contact the Chairman, Peter Barker (01392 495984 or peter@peterbarker.plus.com).
