No Filter (7pm)

Squiffy Cabaret

‘No Filter’ is a challenging and intimate look at how our culture and society can shape the way women view and project sexuality. Putting musical comedy at the forefront, Squiffy Cabaret take you on a journey of playful sketches and outrageously funny songs, drawing from heartwarming, personal experiences in a slick, sexy and sophisticated cabaret setting. Exploring the boundaries and connection between performance and truth, ‘No Filter’ is moving, relevant, and outspoken.
Using interweaving narratives and multi-roling, the show takes a glance into the little world of Squiffy Cabaret, underscored by the duo’s unique contemporary jazz sound. Inspired by their own personal experiences, and the experiences of those around them, ‘No Filter’ is about the struggles and joys of being a woman. And having sex.

Femme Fatigue

Ella Evans

Femme Fatigue is a quirky piece of work in progress which bases itself  the pressures we place on women today to conform to an ideal of femaleness and the downright ridiculous nature of many of the expectations that gender norms set up. The piece finds humour in the absurd messages that proliferate in everyday culture concerning women's bodies, hearts and minds. Rather than being preachy, Ella Evans prefers to be cheeky and pans the comic gold and pure ridiculousness that is the patriarchy's irrational framework.
The show combines elements of stand up, physical theatre and sketch and bizarre querks of poetic licence. The performer takes her own personal experiences of being 'womafied' and mulls in pedantic detail over what these experiences mean. She takes on the tampon. She talks about porn and cow tipping. Expect a variety of voices and the personification of  body parts,  deodorants coming to life with particularly shrill voice and a captivating impression of a white middle class man with a guitar.
