Pulling Out

‘So the mum carried it and pushed it out and that. But does anyone say to the dad, ‘What high quality sperms you have?’ No they do not. An’ those nine months are long. Seriously talking about calling her ‘Ariadne’, ‘Bentley’ or ‘Oceana’, so you are literally delighted with ‘Bowie’ for the easy life…’

Leo’s seventeen. He’s got college, a healthy right-swipe-rate on Tinder and a six-month-old.

He’s mashing avocado and buying Pampers over own-brand because of the more reliable gusset. Leo’s on the triple shift of school, work and night feeds and wants to be a dad in every sense.

That’s if his baby’s mum will let him. Or her step-mum, or his mum, or his step-mum. Those nans all want a piece of the pie.

So did Leo pull out or was he pushed?

Inspired by frank and often funny accounts of young dads trying to go the distance, Pulling Out is a spirited look at unplanned parenthood from the male perspective.
