Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year Awards finalists revealed
The finalists of 2015’s Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year Awards have been unveiled.
The judges have been busy selecting and writing to the committed and talented people who have been selected as finalists for the Awards, which recognise sporting success and contributions at all levels around the district.
Winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on Friday 4 December at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren.
Featuring a diverse range of categories, the Awards recognise athletes, volunteers, sports teams, committee members, coaches, and community champions from all areas of the community that go the extra mile in helping Teignbridge stay active all year round.
The Awards, in association with main sponsor Kitsons Solicitors and supported by media partners Breeze FM and the Mid Devon Advertiser, recognise sporting success, achievements and contributions to sport at all levels across the district.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for local businesses and raffle prizes are being sought for the Chairman’s charity the Helen Foundation and the all-new Devon Youth Games 2016.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge District Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive Spokesman for Recreation and Leisure, said:
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate. It was a real challenge to shortlist because the standard was so high. It definitely shows there’s a real range and depth within the sporting community here at Teignbridge.
“Teignbridge District Council is committed to providing a range of opportunities to support and improve health. Leading an active lifestyle – whether its visiting one of our leisure centres or joining a local sports club - plays a huge part in maintaining good health and wellbeing, achieving personal goals, meeting people, developing skills, a sense of pride – the list is endless.
“The Sports Personality of the Year Awards aim to celebrate the people involved in all sports or those who work voluntarily to make things happen. We’d like to wish everyone the best of luck for 4 December.”
James Cross, Managing Partner at Kitsons, said:
“We're delighted to continue our association with the Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year awards which celebrates local sporting success, volunteers and participants.
“Shortlisting the finalists was a challenge but it did highlight the talent, dedication and enthusiasm that exists here in Teignbridge. This is a fantastic local event to be part of – bringing Teignbridge and the wider community together with all the benefits that sport can bring to us all."
