Highbullen Hotel takes silver at SW Tourism Awards
Hot on the heels of its Gold award for Large Hotel of the Year at the Devon Tourism Awards (which were hosted in its own brand new events venue The Palazzo) in November 2014, Highbullen Hotel is pleased to announce it has taken the silver for the same category at the prestigious South West Tourism Awards which took place on 12 February in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.
Highbullen, a 37 room hotel which sits in its own 125 acre estate, was up against some exceptionally strong competition in the Large Hotels category, with hotels represented from across the region.
They included Cornwall’s The Scarlet, which took the Gold award, Wiltshire’s Five Red Star Lucknam Park and fellow Devon hotel the Magdalen Chapter in Exeter, both of whom were awarded Bronze awards. Highbullen was the only silver winner in the group, putting it amongst the highest echelons in South West hotels.
Highbullen, which has just completed £5 million of improvements, culminating in the opening of its brand new conference and events venue, the stunning, Italianate Palazzo, last November, is fast becoming one of the South West’s best known hotels.
The hotel’s facilities, including an 18-hole golf course, seven tennis courts, two pools, an award winning fine dining restaurant, which are all centred around an impressive Arts and Crafts Manor House, make this perfect for conferences and incentive trips as well as for Highbullen’s leisure guests, whether they are on a short break or longer visit.
The hotel is also licensed inside and out for weddings and the addition of The Palazzo, which can cater for parties of up to 400, makes this the only wedding venue of its kind in the region.
“We are over the moon to have picked up another prestigious award for Highbullen, quite an achievement when we think of the huge transformation the hotel has undergone over the past 18 months,” comments Ronnie Orr, Resort Director at Highbullen. “To be seen as one of the outstanding hotels in the South West region is a huge honour, and one which recognises the tireless dedication of the team throughout the resort.
“Since our owner, Mr Chapman, has taken on and developed Highbullen, we have seen the estate go from strength to strength. This has been reflected by our guests, whether face to face or in the fantastic online reviews they leave us, but it is superb to be recognised by our peer group, the wider tourism industry, in this way.
“We look forward to continuing to develop Highbullen and winning more awards in the years to come”
