BCR Associates sponsor North Devon Manufacturing Association Awards

BCR Associates were pleased to join nearly 200 stakeholders of North Devon’s manufacturing industry, who assembled at the Barnstaple Hotel on the evening of Thursday 18th May for the annual NDMA Awards ceremony.

The purpose of the event was to recognise the achievements of local manufacturers as well as the next generation of engineers & designers from North Devon's education establishments.

A total of 8 schools awards were presented by Richard Dormer, Owner and Managing Director of BCR Associates with Paul Mullen of Anglo Krempel and Lisa Hutching on hand to announce the winners.

NDMA schools awards celebrate achievements in technology and design projects and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. On display were the winning and runner-up entries from secondary schools, which included innovative furniture, clothing and even a surfboard storage system. The winning Primary Schools STEM Challenge spaghetti and marshmallow tower was also on display.

Business cost and risk management consultants, BCR Associates, sponsored the ‘Schools Technology Award’ for age category 13 to 16.

The winner was Jake Hulme from Braunton Academy (image left) with Runner Up going to Jessie Thompson, West Buckland School (image right). Highly commended awards went to Yasmeen Abed and Joshua Ballard, both from Park Community School.

Richard said “We have sponsored the NDMA Schools Awards for the last 3 years and I am always impressed by the level of skill and professional quality of the work submitted by these young students. It’s fantastic to see such talent coming through the North Devon education system and I wish them all the best in their future studies and careers in engineering and design.”

As members of the NDMA, BCR Associates will continue to work closely with the group to promote the long-term success and stability of member businesses through cost and risk management.
