Exeter Airport reports a busy Easter
Easter was the busiest period of the year so far for Exeter Airport with over sixteen and a half thousand inbound and outbound passengers using the airport over the holiday period; a figure which was helped by the re-introduction of the Flybe ‘sun routes’ to Alicante, Malaga and Faro.
A high level of bookings on the other Flybe services, together with those of Skybus and Thomson flights which operated to as far away as Sharm El Sheikh, meant that the airport was over fifteen percent busier than Easter last year.
Exeter Airport managing director Matt Roach said: “The Easter period has been very busy for the airport with the great weather attracting a growing number of inbound visitors to the region; whilst outbound flights to both UK and overseas destinations have seen high demand. It was the first Easter for our twice daily London City flights which proved popular as did the seasonal start-up of Skybus flights to the Isles of Scilly.
“Charter holiday booking numbers with Thomson have been strong and passengers in the South West are really seeing the benefit of 'flying from closer to home' with Flybe’s codeshare agreements enabling passengers to fly from their local airport to an ever growing list of exotic destinations. We are confident that with the continuing investment in the airport facilities – most notably the recently opened new Executive Lounge and Fast Track Security lane, coupled with the opening of the new approach road, that passengers will continue to see the benefit of using their local airport in great numbers.”
