Exeter author seeks backers
A budding local author, Kristie Herd, 29 from Exeter, is on the hunt for pledges in a bid to release her debut novel, Love’s Vindication.
Kristie, a Helpdesk Officer at Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, has approached a number of publications but as yet, has had little success. That was until she discovered Kickstarter, an organisation dedicated to finding new ways to fund innovative projects, big or small.
The projects are supported by pledges from those who wish to back an idea.
Until now Kristie has reached out to family and friends for pledges and has raised £550, but as the success of this project relies on the author raising £3,000, she has decided to look to the general public for contributions.
If Kristie raises this realistic yet challenging target, she will be able to self-publish her novel, 3 years in the making.
The novel, an adult fictional romance thriller, focuses on a love story between two women. Their journeys span across the globe in what is ultimately a love story, complete with moments of charming humour entwined with gritty undertones of the Mafia.
Kristie said: "This novel means an awful lot to me, as it is my first project and focuses on a topic that is close to my heart. I am reaching out to people to ask that they support this project, with donations big or small.
"Family and friends have already been so kind and I’ve managed to surpass £500, but there is still a long way to go. Those who do back my project will receive a signed and numbered copy of the first edition with a personalised dedication."
