Exeter businesses continue to join forces with a Devon work placement company to welcome foreign trainees into the city.

The Training Partnership (TTPL) has found work placements for more than 300 trainees in the region this summer.

The most recent companies to have linked up with TTPL are the Glorious Art House and WiFi Spark, both based in Exeter.

The Glorious Art House partnered with TTPL to invite new people into the business who would inject some fresh ideas. Predominantly a café, there is also The Glorious Gallery on the second floor which showcases various artwork.

Derry Tydeman, owner of The Glorious Art House, said: “Our clients really enjoy speaking to someone who has a different story to tell. The customers comment back to all our staff and praise the trainees as they think they are so friendly and have a good work ethic. The trainees have excellent customer service skills so it entices people to visit again.”

By hosting a trainee, businesses can help them improve their business skills as well as providing an experience of a lifetime.

WiFi Spark, a WiFi management company, has also joined the growing TTPL family. Like many others, they have had a very positive experience.

Matt O’Donovan, CEO of WiFi Spark, said: “We were keen to engage with an organisation able to bring enthusiastic, relevant students to our company and TTPL surpassed our expectations.

“The students we have had to date have been great, and as well as us offering good experience in a UK company, their contribution has been very worthwhile. If your business is looking for carefully selected and applicable students then TTPL is an excellent choice.”

TTPL provide on-going support throughout the work placement period to both trainees and businesses with a dedicated work placement manager and student support officer.

Ian Smith, Work Placement Manager at TTPL, said: “We are delighted to welcome on board The Glorious Art House and WiFi Spark. They’ve given us great feedback and the students are really making a contribution to the businesses with their hard work and enthusiasm. It’s a great way for people to learn about how they can develop their business by getting a fresh perspective on things.”
