Exeter is UK's top tech-loving city
Online electronics retailer Ebuyer.com have created a tech map highlighting which cities in the UK are the biggest tech-lovers by analysing sales, technology sectors and population data.
The data showed that Exeter tops the charts as the home to the most tech-loving residents in the UK. The city came out on top of data collated from tech sales of a wide range of electronics, computers and office supplies.
Cheltenham, Loughborough, Cambridge and Milton Keynes make up the rest of the top five with categories ranging from laptops and PCs to Gaming Desktops, Tablets, Components and Wearable tech.
Ebuyer.com collated sales figures from the 100 largest UK cites over 15 major tech categories. They then worked out a weighted score based on their population size of the city against sales.
This weighted data then allowed for smaller cities with a higher tech buying census to rank alongside the major cities.
Hull, Basingstoke, York, Worcester and Bristol make up the rest of the top 10.
The data showed that the south of England buys far for tech than the north or midlands with 55% (11) of the top 20 cities residing in the south, 6 in the midland and 3 in the north.
Gloustershire topped the tables as the techiest county having three cities in the top 20: Cheltenham (2nd), Gloucester (16th) and Bristol (10th).
