Garden centre to transform outdoor space in Sidmouth

Over the coming weeks, Sidmouth, a Wyevale Garden Centre, will be giving something back to the local community by transforming the outdoor space of a Sidmouth organisation, as voted by the public.

Until Sunday 19th June, visitors to the centre will be able to vote for their favourite nominee by placing a plant bulb – available at the tills - in the box of their choice.

The shortlist of nominees is as follows:

Sidmouth in Bloom – the Old Boat Park
Sidmouth in Bloom is a voluntary body working within the local community that aims to continue the town’s floral heritage. If voted the winner, Sidmouth in Bloom will work alongside Wyevale Garden Centres and Sidmouth Town Council to makeover an area of the Old Boat Park for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Sidmouth C of E Primary School, catering to children between 2 and 11, offers a vibrant and exciting learning environment where all children are provided with opportunities to succeed. Should the school win, it will receive a makeover on one of its garden areas – enhancing the social and physical environment of the school to excite students and bring learning alive.

Since 2011, Sidbury C of E Primary School has delivered excellence in education through collaborative working and delivering high-quality education for all its pupils. If selected the winner, the school will have one of its green spaces transformed – benefiting the educational and outdoor learning environment of more than 100 pupils across five classes.

Once the voting has drawn to a close, the winning community group will be introduced to a local landscape designer, who will work with them to give their outside area a special facelift.

Wyevale Garden Centres will provide plants and equipment needed for the garden makeover, as well as a special team to carry out the actual work, including volunteers from the centre.

We have a wealth of skills and expertise in the centre team and now is the perfect opportunity to put these into practice by transforming an outdoor space that everyone in Sidmouth can be proud of.”
