Police are seeking witnesses to an assault at an Exeter pub which left a man with serious facial injuries.

The victim, a 25-year-old Exeter man, became involved in an altercation with another man within The Sorry Head pub in Blackboy Road.

He was then struck in the face with a pint glass by the man and suffered serious facial injuries. A female customer was also injured in the face by flying glass.

The male offender was ejected from the pub and ran from the scene.

A woman also fled the pub and the pair made off in the direction of St Anne’s roundabout.

The assault took place on the night of Saturday 3 October into the early hours of the next day – the same evening as the Scotland v South Africa Rugby World Cup match.

Police are seeking the pair and have released a description of them in the hope that the public may be able to identify them.

The man is white, aged 30-35, and around 5ft 7ins tall. He had a chubby face and short dirty blond hair. He was wearing a light coloured shirt and dark blue jeans.

The woman is also white, aged between 28 and 35, of slim build with long brown curly hair. She was wearing a short dress, possibly with a floral pattern, and high heels.

Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the description and for anyone who witnessed the assault to contact them.
