New appointment at Exeter Cathedral
John Endacott, a senior partner at chartered accountants PKF Francis Clark, has been appointed as a member of the Chapter, the governing body of Exeter Cathedral. He will being great financial acumen and his professional experience will be invaluable to Chapter, as it grapples with financial challenges.
John Endacott studied accountancy at Cardiff University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant 25 years ago. He has been a partner at the largest firm of accountants in the South West for nearly 20 years. The position is voluntary and is a way of serving the Church of England. John Endacott previously lived and worshipped in Truro and was a Churchwarden and Treasurer of the parish church of St George the Martyr in the Diocese of Truro for many years. His connection with cathedrals goes further back having been educated at Truro Cathedral School and more recently as the Treasurer of Exeter Cathedral Preservation Trust.
The appointment involves being installed as a Lay Chapter Canon at a special service which took place at Exeter Cathedral on 30 April, led by the Bishop of Exeter, Robert Atwell. A further member of Chapter, The Reverend Prebendary Becky Totterdell, is being installed as a Residentiary Canon on 9 May.
Commenting on the appointment, Mike Williams said: “John brings with him a considerable level of expertise and experience. John has been working with the Chapter over the last few months to implement cost savings and we are grateful that he will be sharing his talents with us as we work together to build a long term secure financial foundation for the Cathedral’s future.”
