Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to a collision on the A30 at Okehampton in which two elderly people were seriously injured.

Emergency services were called around 6.05pm on Thursday 12 November after the collision between and a DAF large goods vehicle and a Volvo S80 on the westbound carriageway at Sourton.

The Volvo was reported to have broken down in lane one at the time of the collision and officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the stationary car.

The occupants of the Volvo, an 84-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman from Launceston, were seriously injured and were taken to Derriford Hospital where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

The HGV driver, a 51-year-old driver from Sheffield, was uninjured and was interviewed by police shortly after the collision.

A section of the A30 was closed for five hours while a specialist forensic investigation of the scene was undertaken by police.

Sergeant Jane Corkhill, Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, based in Plymouth, said: “It would have been busy at that time of day on the A30.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw the silver Volvo broken down prior to the collision, as well as anyone who was travelling on either carriageway who may have witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Jane Corkhill via 101 or email 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk quoting log number 628 of 12/11/15.
