Six Nations rugby, free pint and a pasty!
A total of 369 men have already signed up for next month’s Hospiscare Men’s Walk starting at Exeter’s Double Locks pub and finishing with a FREE pint and a pasty.
“This is a great start and we’re hoping many more will join us for a walk along the canal and then watch the Six Nations England v Wales on huge LED screens in the Hospiscare bar, relaxing with a pint and a pasty,” said main sponsor Roger Wilkinson of Wilkinson Grant & Co.
“We’re raising funds for a vital local charity so join us!”
The walk on Saturday 12 March is an eight mile route along Exeter’s canal – family can join at the end of the walk.
Dogs are welcome on the walk. A new attraction this year is a free rugby ball throwing machine, you can compete against your friends, family and colleagues to see who can get the fastest speed in the inflatable speed cage. Roger explained why Wilkinson Grant is sponsoring the walk.
He said: “Our local Exeter hospice is one that unless you have had a personal experience of the service, you might know little or nothing about it. It is a free service available to everyone but it is our job, as a local community, to make sure that whenever any of us might need it, now or in the future, Hospiscare is able to keep its doors open.
Last year Hospiscare provided free, high quality care and support to 2,254 people with a progressive life-limiting illness, and those close to them in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.
“Wilkinson Grant love to be a part of events that bring our community together. I’d urge you to sign up to the Men’s Walk – it’s a great chance to get together with friends and family and support a great local charity."
The main event sponsor is Wilkinson Grant, with the Double Locks providing the venue free of charge and St Austell Brewery providing the beer.
Entry is just £17, which includes a t-shirt, a pint and a pasty after the walk. You can either be sponsored or make a donation. Sign up www.menswalkexeter.co.uk or call: 01392 688020.
