Dartmoor National Park has had a golden 2018 with top awards going to a number of Dartmoor based tourism businesses.  In an award ceremony held last week Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centres were awarded Gold for the third year, in the 2018 Devon Tourism Awards. The Centres at Princetown, Postbridge and Haytor scooped the Golden Award in the Tourism Information category.

But it wasn’t just the National Park Visitor Centres receiving a golden accolade - it was great night for Dartmoor in general with Bovey Castle, Langstone Manor, Liberty Trails, Unique Devon Tours and the Glazebrook House Hotel winning gold too!

The Awards celebrate Devon’s finest establishments with winners going through a three stage judging process, including assessment of their websites, mystery visits and an independent judging panel.

Speaking after the event Mark Warnes, Property and Portfolio director at the Tourism Awards sponsor, Hoseasons, said: 'Tonight is obviously about the winners, but the truth is every one of our finalists is in their own way a fantastic advert for what keeps this county at the forefront of the UK tourism industry. The pride and passion they have shown in their businesses over the last 12 months is why people continue to see Devon as one of Britain’s best holiday destinations and why holidaymakers come back year after year.'

Rebecca Martin, Visitor Services Manager for Dartmoor National Park Authority said:

‘The team are delighted to receive this award. The Visitor Centres welcome over 187,000 people every year and we work hard to ensure that all visitors leave with an appreciation of the unique qualities that make Dartmoor special.’

The Centre is also hosting Finding Prehistory, a new exhibition brought to you by The Box in partnership with Dartmoor National Park.
