Large Devon-based solicitors, Curtis Whiteford Crocker and local law firm Fursdon Knapper completed their merger on Monday 5th September, the firm announced.

The newly merged firm will be known as ‘Curtis Whiteford Crocker incorporating Fursdon Knapper’ with a total of nine partners across six offices and an increased turnover in excess of £1 million per annum.

This recent deal is the latest of Curtis Whiteford Crocker's expansions in the South West, growing the firms expertise to meet the needs of current and future clients.

As a result of the merger, Curtis Whiteford Crocker have gained a Senior Solicitor and Partner from Fursdon Knapper who specialises in Immigration, adding a new service which will further benefit the communities in around Devon.

In addition, four new partners will join CWC as a result of the merger, including Charles Knapper, co-owner of Fursdon Knapper, who will now be a Consulting Partner.

CWC will also be expanding into Fursdon Knapper’s Plymstock office. This will gradually be rebranded to Curtis Whiteford Crocker as the firm moves forward as one, joining CWC’s Plymouth, Tavistock, Torpoint and Knightsbridge offices within the portfolio.

Fursdon Knapper’s current Keyham office will close in the coming weeks, with preparations underway to minimise disruption to colleagues and clients.

Anthony Dyke, Solicitor & Partner at CWC says: “We are delighted that our firms have joined forces and we look forward to an exciting and prosperous new chapter in our collective futures.”

The Devon-based solicitors are fast-growing, having completed mergers with Ann Pointer Solicitors and Curtis Solicitors, transforming them into the well-reputed business they are today. Their combined experience runs over 200 years, with Whiteford Crocker practising law since the late 1800s.

Fursdon Knapper is a full-service law firm offering legal advice to individuals and businesses across a wide range of areas including conveyancing, employment law, immigration and litigation, adding scale to CWC’s existing offering. This latest merger sits in line with the group’s strategy to accelerate growth and continue to strengthen its stronghold in the South West by bringing in complementary services.

Commenting on the merger, Fursdon Knapper, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for us as it means we’ll be able to create more jobs, expand our business and offer our services to more people across the region. Our Founding Partner, Charles Knapper, will be a Consulting Partner as a result of this merger, meaning that we will be carrying over our knowledge, high-quality service and expertise to match that at CWC. Onwards and upwards!”
