Local and national award wins for Devon businesswoman

Julie Hawker CEO at local social enterprise, Cosmic, based in Honiton, has won the Social Enterprise Women’s Champion at the UK Social Enterprise Awards, held on London’s South Bank on 26th November 2015.

In addition to this, Julie was also nominated and won the Director of the Year award at the Venus Devon awards ceremony on Friday evening. This award was judged based on the criteria of an outstanding director or board member of a company with more than 10 employees.

Julie’s Venus award win demonstrates her commitment to women in business, especially within the technology industry and her national Social Enterprise UK award is acknowledgement of Cosmic’s commitment to social enterprise and the good that it brings to the UK economy.

On winning the awards Julie said: “What an honour and thrill it is to receive these awards. I’ve been leading Cosmic and its work for many years, and during that time I have been supported and inspired by colleagues, associates, partners and supporters of our work, and so it’s a delight to be able to share this award with all of them. To be recognised in the local and national arena with major awards like these means so much.”
