An Exeter electrical contractor has launched an innovative software product that looks set to improve the efficiency of electrical testing for contractors nationwide.

Electrical Testing Surveyors, based in Merlin Business Park near Exeter Airport has been testing the Windows-based software, ETAS, for two years with its own team of inspectors. ETAS carries out electrical installation testing, analysis, reporting and management, and can improve testing efficiency by at least 25 per cent.

Electrical Testing Surveyors Director, Steve Richards explained: “We designed ETAS after changes to industry regulations prompted us to completely rewrite and update our in-house software.

“Since then, we have been using ETAS to test all types of installations, from domestic properties to heavy industrial complexes with multiple sub-station transformers. Our own team was so impressed at the efficiency of the new software that the logical step was to offer the resulting product to other electrical contractors and testing companies.”

In-the-field estimates suggest the use of ETAS reduces time spent on testing by around a quarter, as it enables faster checks to be made on system safety.

ETAS is free to download and has no tie-in fees, so contractors can try it out without committing large sums of money. The system is secure, with all commercially sensitive contractor and client information stored only in the contractor’s software only.

“This software has revolutionised the way we work, and we are very excited to launch the product to contractors across the UK,” concluded Steve.
