Property ball raises £50,000 for local charities
Exeter’s renowned Property Ball returned to Dart’s Farm on Friday 1st July, raising £50,000 for local charities. There were 650 guests.
Complete with funfair rides, tepee, cocktail bar, steel band, sports cars and a speed boat, the Property Ball lived up to its name of entertaining guests from all walks of Exeter’s business community.
The event, sponsored by Eagle One, M J Stevens, Blue Cedar Homes and NatWest Bank began with a mouthwatering meal, followed by an auction and music by Risky Business.
The auction, presided over by former Exeter Chiefs legend, Chris "Bentos" Bentley included a dinner cooked at your home by Michael Caines MBE, a trip in a Formula One racing boat skippered by champion driver Andrew Langdon, helicopter ride and lunch at Lympstone Manor, an evening with Exeter Chiefs and England player Henry Slade and friends, plus a huge amount of prizes in the silent auction.
Whilst the focus of the evening is to have fun, the generosity from donations to the auction and bidding for the prizes has helped to raise over £275,000 since the Ball was first held in 2002. Many local causes have benefited from this which makes the event all the more worthwhile. And all thanks to the efforts of Steve James from Nat West, Tim Heal from Ashfords, David Kirk from Kirk Hills, Damian Cook of Stratton Creber and Scott Rossiter from Alder King who made it happen.
Says David Kirk ‘We are so glad to be able to make this event a success as it is such a great fundraiser for our local charities. The atmosphere was great with guests thoroughly enjoying the entertainment and we hope to be back again in 2018 after a well-earned rest!’.
