Council keen to hear from experienced food festival operators interested in running an exciting and innovative food and drink opportunity as part of the Queen’s Drive regeneration project

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a quality food and drink operator to make their mark at East Devon District Council’s Queen’s Drive site, the area of Exmouth’s seafront that is earmarked for development as part of the Exmouth vision to regenerate the town and its economy.

Prior to development taking place in autumn 2019, the council will be providing a vibrant and colourful mixture of temporary attractions for both visitors and residents. As part of these plans, the council is inviting proposals from experienced food festival operators with both drive and vision, who would be capable of managing and providing a variety of high quality, contemporary street food traders within a specified area of the site, which will transform this part of Exmouth into an energetic and thriving focal point.

Within the two acre Queen’s Drive site, there will be three separate but interlinked zones, offering complementary and associated uses, which will feature – in addition to the food and drink offer –high quality children’s free play and a flexible open air events space.

The attractions would start to be available from March 2018 through to at least September 2018, potentially covering the winter period into 2019 and with a strong possibility of operating through the spring/summer season 2019.

Cllr Philip Skinner, East Devon District Council’s portfolio holder for economy and Chairman of the Exmouth Regeneration Board, said: “The council said that it would make sure that the seafront was as active and welcoming as possible while development is carried out and that is what we are doing. Next year we want to give people new attractions and reasons to enjoy the seafront. That includes not only new food and drink offers on the Queen’s Drive site, but also a new and free play park next year for visitor and resident families alike and a new event space for live performance, open air cinema and big screen sport events. Watch this space.”

Applicants can register their interest on the Supplying the South West website.
