So Good They Hired Them Twice

Two members of Rundlewalker Solicitors have been rewarded with promotions after joining the popular Exeter law firm for a second time.

The company, based on the Quayside, is well known for its family atmosphere and friendly personal service.

Head of Criminal Defence, Lisa McArthur (pictured above) has become a Director of the company after returning three years ago.   Lisa originally joined Rundlewalker for a five year stint doing mostly Personal Injury work, but then felt the need to move on to gain experience with other firms.  She was welcomed came back three years ago and retrained as a criminal lawyer.

Lisa is now a regular 24 hour duty solicitor for the police and also does court duty, as well as undertaking personal injury work, accidents at work, public liability and road traffic cases.

‘I love the family atmosphere at Rundlewalker,’ she said.  ‘There’s never a dull moment here.  With bigger firms, as I discovered, it can be very impersonal.  I wanted to be a name not a number.  It’s a different ethos here for our clients too.  We all have direct dial numbers so our clients can ring us
and we pick up the call.

‘However, with defence work of course, it’s the one branch of the law where we hope not to see our clients again.’

Back for a second time too is Hannah Somers, taking on the key role of Practice Manager, looking after the day to day running of the office, along with training, compliance, professional indemnity and internal systems.

Exeter born, Hannah made a decision to leave St Luke’s High School at 16 and become a trainee legal secretary apprentice with Rundlewalker.

‘I made a lot of tea, did a lot of shredding and sorted out the photo copier many times,’ said Hannah.  ‘But I had wonderful training , no student debt and was able to rent a flat from the age of 17.’

Hannah quickly rose through the ranks at Rundlewalker to become a legal secretary doing Personal Injury work as well as studying advanced admin on a day release course.   After three years with the company, she moved to Bristol working in insurance where she met her husband.

‘I’d always kept in touch with the wonderful people at Rundlewalker, so when they heard we were planning to return to Exeter, they told me about a Personal Injury position coming up.’

Hannah promptly rejoined the company, trained as a paralegal in the family division and has now added Practice Manager to her responsibilities.
