A family-run plumbing and heating company in East Devon is celebrating having recently been awarded the Which? Trusted Trader accolade.

Consumer champion Which? has been supporting consumers for over 50 years – protecting consumer rights, testing products and services, and providing impartial advice to consumers.

The Which? Trusted Trader scheme is designed to help consumers find reputable traders in the home improvement sector.

Fords, based in Sidmouth, has recently undergone the rigorous assessment process and successfully passed to be awarded the Which? Trusted Trader endorsement.

The detailed assessment process involved a full review of Fords’ business procedures, a company credit check, an interview with a Which? Trusted Trader assessor and collecting customer references.

Stephen McCluskey, Managing Director of Which? Trusted Traders, said: “We are delighted to announce Fords as a Which? Trusted trader.”

“Our Which? Trusted Traders service gives consumers the confidence to make the right choices when it comes to finding skilled professionals and we’re pleased to be able to give traders the chance to distinguish themselves from their peers.”

“This scheme is a valuable, free resource for consumers and will help banish the risk of bodge jobs.”

Fords is a family-run business that began life as an ironmongers shop in Sidmouth in the late 1800s. The company has expanded over the years and now provides a complete home trades service across East Devon.

Tim Ford, Director, comments: “We’re delighted and proud to have received this prestigious award. The ethos of our founder, Owen Ford, was to give excellent service to the local community and we have worked hard to sustain that culture.”

“This award is recognition of our commitment and gives reassurance to our customers that we are a reputable company which can be trusted to deliver an excellent service.”

From its humble beginnings Fords now employs over 65 local staff, which include qualified heating engineers, plumbers and electricians. Fords is a Worcester Bosch accredited installer.
