Devon mum of three decides to follow her 12-year passion
After giving birth to her third child in 2012, Devon mum Katie Skilton soon realised that she didn’t want to pay childcare costs and return to her Sales and Marketing Manager job. Instead she decided to follow her 12-year passion for all things vintage and shabby chic instead.
Katie Skilton Design is primarily a papercraft-focused service, educating others on the wonderful and inspiring on-trend craft industry. Katie is currently working with national publications and is also a regular on the Ideal World shopping channel demonstrating the latest product releases.
Katie also plans to hold regular craft workshops from May 2013 with a vision of teaching classes in several aspects of craft. Recently picking up the keys to her new studio in Brixham, where she is currently adapting to country life, Katie plans to turn it into a place of escapism and creativity where people can come to learn, create, make friends and relax.
“It’s been my dream to turn my passion and hobby into my business. I feel so lucky and excited and I can’t wait to start teaching in my new studio and meeting more local people.”
Offering a whole range of services from paper crafts to sewing and networking events, this ambitious mum of three shows no signs of stopping or slowing down anytime soon.
Katie also offers a wedding service teaching brides-to-be to create their own wedding decor and stationary.
“I aim to help people find a creative side, whether it is home decor, fashions or crafts. Being creative and up-cycling is on trend and affordable and I am really excited about educating and teaching all levels”
