What an incredible year at the increasingly popular skydiving school located in South West near Honiton.

The weather has been so good to the local adrenaline junkies this summer, that they have decided to give something back.

Jumping from 15,000ft from the UK’s fastest jump plane is no longer a challenge for experienced skydivers but doing the same for charity wearing just underwear is a different story!

The 35 strong team have already raised over £3,000 which is being split between Breast Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer UK.

The rather cold underwear jumps took place last month at Dunkeswell Airfield. One of the club skydivers, Ali List, shares her experience: “It was very cold and a lot harder to jump without the normal skydiving jumpsuit! It is encouraging though to do it together with other girls and to do it for such a great cause. All of us know someone who has suffered from breast cancer. We are trying to think of more and more ways to fight back and raise the awareness.”

The event has received some fantastic support from local businesses, especially from The Purple Company, in Exeter who donated T-shirts for this event. 100% of money paid for each T-shirt now goes straight to the charity.

Robin Lyon-Smith, director of The Purple Company explains: “We are delighted to be supporting this special event in aid of Prostate and Breast Cancer – with so many people willing to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet in nothing but their underwear, we thought the least we could do is offer our support with some T-shirts to cover them up before and after they jump!  In all, we’ve designed and produced 200 t-shirts so they can be sold to benefit the charities and event even further.”

Louise Banks, Charity Coordinator of Skydive UK says: “Usually it’s tandem students who take up the challenge of jumping for charity. This has been very special, because now our experienced skydivers are setting up their own challenges for charity. 35 experienced skydivers have taken part in lingerie / boxer shorts jumps and raised an amazing £3000.”

Skydive UK is the most popular Skydiving School in South West, and is helping raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for different charities all year around. Discover the sky and the memory will be with you forever.
