Choir raises over £4,000 for Exeter homeless charity
Members of Exeter Philharmonic Choir visited St Petrock's this week to present a cheque worth £4,086 to the charity which provides support, housing and prevention services for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed
The money was raised over two consecutive nights in December in the retiring collection at Exeter Cathedral following the Choir's annual carol services.
Mel Hartley, Project Manager at St. Petrock's, said: "We are extremely grateful for Exeter Philharmonic Choir's support. which will help us to meet some of the challenges we face as we continue to fill gaps in services for people experiencing homelessness. The amount raised through such generous donations over both evenings will make a huge difference to our work. We're particularly grateful for this donation at this busy time as we have seen the number of people in need of our services at St Petrock's centre increase over the last year. We now see 65-80 people per day. In response to this, we have developed new housing and support services to complement our drop-in centre. "
The Choir, which is itself a charity, supports a different local charity each year through the retiring collection at its annual Carols in the Cathedral concerts.
