Force raises thousands as Princesshay's charity of the year

FORCE Cancer Charity has announced that more than £10,000 has been raised through fundraising activities and events in Princesshay, as the centre’s nominated charity of the year for 2018.

Throughout 2018, Princesshay and FORCE have worked together to raise vital funds and awareness for the charity. Princesshay donated all proceeds from its Arctic Adventure and City Bee honey sales and members of the Princesshay security team completed a challenging 70 mile walk in 24 hours to raise funds for FORCE, walking from Dorchester to Princesshay last July. Visitors to Princesshay also purchased raffle tickets to win a Toyota Aygo XPlay, generously supplied by Snows Toyota, Exeter.

Princesshay Centre Director, Wayne Pearce said, “FORCE Cancer Charity has been a fantastic partner for 2018, an important local charity that everyone in Princesshay was keen to support. The variety of fundraising activities in Princesshay throughout 2018 gave visitors lots of opportunities to support FORCE, resulting in a great final total for the charity.”

Olly Watts, Fundraising Development Officer at FORCE Cancer Charity said “We were absolutely delighted to be chosen as Princesshay’s charity for 2018 and plans were soon put into action on how we were going to make the most out of this wonderful opportunity. From public awareness days throughout the year to fundraising initiatives including The Princesshay Wishing Well and Arctic Adventure at Christmas through to donations made at the Go-kart track and of course the wonderful team down at Snows Toyota Exeter, who, very kindly donated a Toyota Aygo X-Play as a draw prize. All of this meant that we raised a phenomenal £10,396.92 which will go some way to help fund support to anyone locally affected by cancer. We really can’t thank Princesshay enough and indeed all the shops in Princesshay who very kindly supported FORCE including Beaverbrooks and Russell & Bromley.”

FORCE Cancer Charity offers face-to-face support for anyone locally affected by cancer and works to improve patient care by funding research and equipment. The work of FORCE relies entirely on voluntary donations and legacies, fundraising events, support from local businesses and income from its charity shop in Heavitree.
