Hospiscare's Icelandic charity trek of a lifetime
Hospiscare Events Fundraiser, Tom Gilbert, is holding an information evening at Searle House in February for anyone who would like a real challenge while raising valuable funds for Hospiscare.
Tom says the Icelandic Trek is the perfect opportunity to have a life changing experience among the snow and lava fields, support your local hospice, and meet some amazing people on the way.
If you are wondering whether a charity challenge is for you, here is what one participant of Hospiscare’s 2016 China Trek said: "I met such a wonderful bunch of trekkers, we supported each other and had lots of laughter and team camaraderie.
"We were out of our comfort zone on so many levels, fitness, climate, food, but it was never scary because we felt we were in a protected environment. Life is too short to not do things - carpe diem!
"I fundraised in my own style, focusing on giving people a good time. I held a garden party with plant stalls and entertainment. Then I held a disco and also asked everyone to sponsor me on Facebook. I even did some cold calling to businesses, which worked well.
"Hospiscare were really supportive, there was a dedicated person to talk to about the trip and they helped by making posters and tickets for my events. I had an absolutely amazing experience and highly recommend if you are considering the trip to Iceland in 2018 that you sign up! You’ll have the trip of a lifetime, meet new friends and raise money for a very worthy cause." Heatherbelle, Devon.
The trek itself is from 27th September – 2nd October, 2018, which sounds like a long way off but this time will be needed to prepare and plan. Come to the no obligation introductory evening on 21st February 2017 6:30pm at Hospiscare, Searle House, Exeter, EX2 5JJ to find out more, you will have all of your questions answered along with some you didn’t know you had.
