ADVICE EXETER is a newly formed group of local charities offering free advice and information to local people.

Exeter CAB, Age UK Exeter, Young Devon, Shelter, Community Housing Aid and Homemaker Southwest have teamed up to improve the services they offer to people in Exeter. The partnership, which is funded jointly by Big Lottery Fund and the Cabinet Office, held a successful launch event at Exeter Community Centre in March.

The work of Advice Exeter will include a new online access channel and self-help resource for users, an expanded presence across the city in libraries and other community centres, and better recruitment and training for volunteers.

Campaigning work will ensure that the problems that bring local people to our partners every day contribute to wider improvements in policies and practices. Above all, the project aims to develop a cohesive local partnership with a sustainable and promising future in helping local people.

“This project comes at a time when local people and the voluntary organisations designed to help them are both struggling more than ever,” said Iain Large, Partnership Development Officer.

“Together our partners already help thousands of clients each year, through the work of hundreds of volunteers. We are intent on continuing to develop and improve services and retaining the vital presence of our partners in the city for many years to come.
