Princesshay announces Home-Start as charity of the year
Princesshay has announced Home-Start Exeter, East & Mid Devon as its charity of the year.
Home-Start Exeter, East & Mid Devon volunteers and staff work alongside parents, in their own homes, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.
As well as the charity’s volunteer, home-visiting service, Home-Start Exeter, East & Mid Devon also run a Mothers in Mind Group to support mothers in the perinatal period who are suffering with low mood, post-natal depression, anxiety, OCD or depression. The Scheme provides a service covering the region from Exeter to Axminster and including Exmouth, Cranbrook, and Tiverton, Crediton and Cullompton in Mid Devon.
Jo Darke at Home-Start Exeter, East & Mid Devon said “We are so pleased to have been chosen by Princesshay to be their Charity of the Year. In 2022, we were able to support 207 children in 102 families. This year, through the Princesshay partnership we hope to encourage more people to become volunteers to help us support even more families who may need our service.”
The partnership will see fundraising and awareness events happen throughout the year in Princesshay with the aim of recruiting more volunteers.
Michelle Menezes, Princesshay Centre Manager, said: “We have the privilege of being able to work with some amazing local charities through our Charity of the Year initiative and we are delighted to be supporting Home-Start this year. We look forward to partnering with their team and having the opportunity to learn about the incredible work that goes on across the region.”
22/23 saw Princesshay support CEDA as their charity partner of the year with highlights including events and exhibitions onsite from live radio broadcasts with ‘Access All Aerials’, art and heritage exhibitions to raising awareness on accessibility as part of the global Purple Tuesday movement and teaming up to participate in Exeter Carnival. Over the twelve months, £4,305.30 was raised with in kind support also given with onsite space and repurposed materials.
