Tracie, our marathon mum!
Hours of training around Exeter will prepare serving Royal Air Force mum Tracie Pickett for the incredible experience of the London Marathon. She volunteered at the event in 2015 and since then she has dreamed of taking part. This year is her chance.
When Tracie read about the work of charity Little Troopers, founder Louise Fetigan inspired her, Tracie said “the work of Little Troopers really resonated with me as my boys know what it’s like to have a mummy or daddy go away for long periods of time. The fact that it was founded by Louise who has previously served in the armed forces and is a military wife also inspired me to do more”. Tracie Pickett is part of the RAF, currently based in Exeter, her husband Jay also serves in the British Armed Forces.
Tracie has chosen to support Little Troopers and Little Hearts Matter as she runs the gruelling 26 mile route around London. Her training has been tough but she is getting more confident with every run she adds to her schedule. You can help her smash her £2000 target by donating here https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/traciepickett
Little Troopers is the only charity in the UK championing children from military families with the unique challenges their lives bring. “Children from forces families have to cope with both long periods of separation due to active deployments and many frequent shorter, repeated separations due to exercises and courses, especially Tracie’s boys with both parents serving. We provide separation packs, vital resources and our great Little Troopers Treasures app to help children feel connected and supported. We wish Tracie so much luck during her training and on marathon day, we will be tracking you on the app and your boys, family and friends will be there cheering you on”- Louise Fetigan, charity founder.
