Cyclist killed in A38 horror crash

A cyclist has died after an horrific crash involving a lorry on the Exeter-bound carriageway of the A38.

The incident happened at 10.53am yesterday (5th September)  approximately one mile from Lee Mill.

The 58-year-old cyclist was treated at the scene before being conveyed by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries. He later died.

The A38, Exeter bound was closed for five hours while officers from the Serious Collisions investigation Unit carried out their inquiries.

Traffic in the area and on surrounding minor roads ground to a halt.

The Lorry driver, a man, aged in his early 40’s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody at Charles Cross police Station.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them on 101 quoting police reference 0252 05914.
