Isca College students celebrate 'best ever GCSE results'
Students and staff at Isca College are celebrating their best ever GCSE results with 57% of students achieving 5A*-C grades, a 11% increase on last year’s scores.
Results in English and Maths rose, with 66% of students picking up A*-C grades in these subjects.
A significant number of students collecting their results today joined Isca College having made below average levels of progress at their Primary schools. For most, their progress accelerated when they joined Isca College. Their dedication and hard work throughout their time at the school means they leave Isca with grades to be proud of and with a bright future ahead of them.
Amongst the young people celebrating success today are 12 students from Isca who have been accepted onto Exeter College’s prestigious Reach Academy.
This programme prepares the most able students from across the city for Oxford, Cambridge, and Russell Group universities. This year more students from Isca were accepted onto the programme than any other school in Exeter.
Mandi Street, who soon comes to the end of her time as head teacher at Isca College, said: "The number of students from Isca College who will be joining the Reach Academy in September evidences how well our brighter students here are stretched and achieve.
"Furthermore, it shows the positive impact of investing in wider experiences for young people. At Isca we ensure all students have the chance to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities, such as Ten Tors training and our award-winning school radio, and other personal development activities which are considered essential by the top-ranking universities.
"I am so pleased that in my final year at Isca College I have been able to support and work alongside such an inspiring group of students. I am confident that the school is in an extremely healthy position to move forward in its new partnership with the Ted Wragg Trust."
