Exeter College Christmas Concert supports Devon Air Ambulance

This Christmas Exeter College invite the public to join them in their festive celebrations and support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA). Exeter College’s Festival of Carols will be held on Thursday 8th December at Exeter Cathedral in aid of DAA as the College’s chosen Charity of the Year.

This event is open to the public and free of charge, in turn the College would like to collect donations at the end of the evening for DAA. The festival will run from 7:30pm to 9pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm.

Exeter College would like to encourage the public to join the college’s staff, students and family members to support DAA and celebrate the festive season. Guests will be invited to sing carols, listen to readings by students, and join in prayer.

This year’s event includes music from the Exeter College Chamber Orchestra, Music Academy ensemble and Big Band; the audience will be encouraged to join in the singing led by the College’s Choral Society. The Festival will begin with a stunning candlelit procession, followed by a welcome by Principal John Laramy and prayers and blessings by the College Chaplain Revd Christopher Durrant.

Principal John Laramy said “The Festival of Carols is a real highlight of the year and for me personally it really marks the beginning of the festive period.  It is a wonderful opportunity for staff, students and the community to come together to celebrate Christmas.  It also provides a showcase for the many talented individuals who work and study at the college.  I hope that those who are able to join us on the night have an extremely enjoyable evening and will be able to give generously towards this year’s charity, Devon Air Ambulance, chosen by the students and staff at the College.”

DAA Fundraising Director Caroline Creer added “Exeter College have raised significant amounts of funds for us over the years through numerous fundraisers but this is the first year we have been selected as their Charity of the Year with 100% of funds raised donated to DAA, for which we are immensely grateful. The calibre of their student’s musical talent and performances will make for a fantastic evening and we really hope the community turn out to support them as much as to support DAA.”

Donations collected on the evening will contribute to the College’s annual fundraising for DAA.
