Bat Walks at The Donkey Sanctuary this summer

The Donkey Sanctuary invites you to join their Wildlife & Conservation Coordinator on evening strolls to find out about resident bats at the Sanctuary’s headquarters.

During the Bat Walk, you will be taken around the woods, fields and hedges at Slade House Farm and shown how to use a bat detector so that you can listen for different species of bat as they fly and hunt for insects.

The Sanctuary has been working with Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project to improve the habitat for bats on their UK farms. These Bat Walks provide the opportunity to learn more about bats, about The Donkey Sanctuary and what they are doing to secure homes for these wonderful creatures.

Ruth Angell, Wildlife and Conservation Coordinator, says: “Join us at Slade House Farm for an evening that is sure to be exciting for people big and small! We have been working really hard to improve our hedges in order to secure the bats habitat so that they have a permanent home here at The Donkey Sanctuary. It’ll be a great evening showing the public other aspects of the work we do here for wildlife and conservation.”

The Donkey Sanctuary is holding a series of these events over the summer, the dates of which are; Friday 24 June at 9.30pm, Friday 15 July at 9.15pm, Friday 12 August at 8.30pm and Friday 9 September at 7.30pm.
