BRITAIN’S poshest train – where jeans and trainers iare frowned upon – will be calling at Exeter on Saturday (14 July)  for a slap-up round trip to Par in Cornwall.

The Northern Belle, Britain’s equivalent of Europe’s famous Orient Express, is described as “recapturing a bygone era of 1930s-style rail travel at its most luxurious”.

And train manager Sandra Jones promises passengers “can expect glamour, fun and a dash of adventure”

The seven renovated and individually decorated Pullman carriages, each named after a British castle or stately home, are hauled by a vintage diesel locomotive.

Passengers will be welcomed on board at St David’s station with a Bellini cocktail and morning tea or coffee. Then on the return journey they will tuck into dinner with win and champagne.

Northern Belle general manager Jeanette Snape said:  “It’s the most luxurious train in the country and that’s why we like people to dress appropriately for the occasion.

“Scruffy jeans and trainers are certainly frowned upon!”

The train will run to various destinations around Britain during the year.
