Come and see the 57 scarecrows involved in the Broadclyst Summer Holiday trail, a great activity to get you out and about exploring the English countryside this summer.

Along the 7km route you will stumble across scarecrows such as Mr Plastic Fantastic, Scary Mary Poppins, Emily Pankhurst (suffragette), Shrekcrow, WillyWonka to name just a few!

“The scarecrows that the community have produced are of an outstanding quality” says this year’s trail organiser Ben Evans. “it is fantastic to hear the shrieks of excitement as participants discover the latest (predominantly) straw based creation”.

The trail started on Friday 27th July and runs until Sunday 2nd September. In its opening week over 200 participants have explored the village with some coming from as far as Newton Abbott and we are delighted to have received lots of positive feedback;

“My son and I love this event and wish it to continue for many years to come!” and “Great fun! Took us all morning! Good effort to all involved!”

It has been a great community effort to get the scarecrow trail up and running with Broadclyst Parish Council, local businesses, the primary school, charities, community groups, farms and individual residents from within the community, all of whom were inspired from last year’s trail taking part.

Trail sheets are available from the Broadclyst Post office at just £1 per sheet.

Funds raised come back to the community via the Villagers Improving Play community group and there are prizes for the best designed scarecrow.
