The success of the Brook Gallery in Budleigh Salterton, East Devon, has led to this acclaimed gallery opening a new location in Exeter.

Renowned for working with some of the world’s best known artists, the Brook Gallery Exeter will bring original works from some of the country’s major artists to the city, with challenging and thought provoking exhibitions from past masters to contemporary artists.

Brook Gallery Exeter will open at 1 Barnfield Crescent on 28 March 2015 - a unique setting within a Georgian crescent providing the perfect backdrop for a trailblazing gallery that looks set to ensure Exeter sits firmly on the art world map.

Well known for its reputation across the country for working with some of the world’s best known names, the Brook Gallery’s expertise lies in its additional ability to sell and provide sourcing advice and consultancy to private and corporate buyers.

Its success lies in its passion and integrity, which is key to the business, and which has enabled the Brook Gallery to expand into a large space in the centre of Exeter.  Located within an original Georgian-style residence, this space will showcase a diverse range of original works, and include an extension of their repertoire from some of the most influential and established artists.

The original reception rooms and hall of the Shipman Group, located at 1 Barnfield Crescent, not only provides a glorious space to view and buy art, but a shared ethos of providing quality in all for their clients and an opportunity to develop an outreach programme to support art and culture in the south west.

Says Angela Yarwood, owner of the Brook Gallery: "I wanted the business to evolve, and show and sell a broader spectrum of original historic and contemporary art, from paintings, to sculpture, to other 3D media.  I was very aware that I needed the right location and feel for the next step in our journey.  This fabulous space in the centre of this beautiful city of Exeter offers an inspiring backdrop for our exhibitions.

"We will utilise our spaces both here and in Budleigh to continue to push the boundaries and inspire our clients, both domestically and corporately, to acquire some of the best art available. My ambition is that the Exeter location will showcase original works that are rarely seen in such a setting and embrace our unrivalled schedule of exhibitions, with this new environment further enhancing our ability to attract major artists and work to Devon and the UK."

"Our first major show in the main gallery will feature a wide selection of work by one of the Brook’s most respected artists, Professor Chris Orr RA, entitled ‘Orr on Tour’ (28 March to 26 April 2015, Budleigh Private View 26 March), complimented by a broad range of works spread through the other rooms, including classical works by Rembrandt and Goya, through to captivating abstracts by artists such as Sir Terry Frost and much more.

"Brook Gallery Exeter looks set to continue its rise within the art world, with the new environment providing a gallery that remains welcoming, often challenging, always informative and never afraid to push the boundaries."

Peter Ellis, Managing Director at the Shipman Group, adds: "Although working in different sectors, we share a similar ethos and desire to always do the best we can for our respective clients on whose behalf we share a requirement for unbiased, practical and pragmatic advice.

"It was only fitting that a prestigious gallery such as Brook Gallery should take over the beautiful ground floor rooms of our building which I have always seen as the perfect environment to display works of art.  We would only want to work with the best, and the legacy of the Brook Gallery is one of excellence.  We are delighted with our new arrangement and look forward to welcoming Angela and her team to Barnfield Crescent."
