Charlotte Ward is like any other fifteen year old girl. She likes meeting up with friends and is busy studying at West Exe Technology College.

But unlike many other fifteen year olds out there Charlotte has performed for a sell-out crowd after supporting X Factor star Luke Friend at The Exeter Phoenix yesterday( Friday 10th January).

Charlotte’s passion for music began at a young age, she said:

“I've always been interested in music and apparently would always be singing, even whilst eating my dinner!”

“I have been playing guitar since I was 9 but I only really started playing piano at the age of about 12 and am self-taught. I find it always improves with practice!”

And Charlotte’s self-taught style clearly paid off, with her first performance taking place at The Globe Inn when she was just thirteen years old!

“The reaction I got on that night was so overwhelming as I was only 13 and had never performed before!”

As well as performing at venues across Devon, Charlotte has also just recorded a charity single for Jack Rigby and the Fusileers Hardship fund.

“Recording the charity single was a fully packed weekend at the amazing metropolis studios in London. The weekend was very stressful because of all the hard work that went into it but ultimately rewarding.”

“It was lovely to be able to be part of something so special and spend the weekend working with so many talented singers and musicians!”

But the 15 year old songstress proves that despite her enormous talent she really is just a down to earth Devonshire girl.

“I'm just a normal teenager trying to cope with the pressure! “

“The fact that so many people know my name and are supporting me is mind blowing really but it's all thanks to the brains behind Charlotte Ward Music, who is of course my lovely mother!”

The pressure looks set to continue for the time being for this talented young lady as she is due to be taking part in what has been described as ‘ one of the toughest competitions in the country’ in January.

“On the 18th of January I have the Open Mic UK finals at the NEC in Birmingham which is very exciting! But after that, we are going to slow things down because I need to have as little pressure possible for my exams!”

Charlotte’s busy schedule continued this week, as she performed as a supporting act for Luke Friend last night (Friday 10th January).

Charlotte, who wowed on the guitar and the piano, sang hits such as The wolves by Ben Howard and performed many of her own songs.

“I was buzzing to be performing with Luke again on Friday, just like old times!”
