Rev up for summer at Killerton’s Classic Car Day
Get into gear this summer admiring 400 vintage vehicles at Killerton’s Classic Car Day on the National Trust estate just outside of Exeter.
On Sunday 13 May, over 400 classic car enthusiasts will be taking a pit stop in the historic parkland to showcase their pride and joy. Visitors can enjoy the live music of vintage trio Liberty Sisters who will perform on their quirky stage, a vintage 1950’s yellow truck called buttercup; as well as The Sundogs who will put a spring in everyone’s step with their up-tempo, classic rock'n'roll with rhythm and blues.
There will also be a craft fair with over 40 stalls and opportunities to refuel from any of the local food stalls, including camper coffee, the Teign Canteen and Lemon Jelli. Adults can enjoy sampling Killerton estate cider at the bar, while kids can let off steam on the bouncy castle.
The Panasonic Lumix Photography Roadshow will be coming along to give visitors top tips on taking the perfect shot as well as information about the latest Panasonic technology.
Tim Harris, Visitor Experience Manager, says: ‘Classic car day is the start of summer season here at Killerton and there’s no better way to get into the spirit and have fun with the family than by spending a day in the sunshine in a setting almost as beautiful as the classic cars themselves.’
Tim continues: ‘The National Trust is a charity, and money raised from events like this help us to fund vital conservation work on the estate. This year, we’re raising money to look after some special items in Killerton’s collection. There will be a chance to buy a raffle ticket on your visit. Every penny goes towards our target and you could also win £10,000.’
Entry to the event also includes access to the house, garden, parkland and Killerton’s cafes and award-winning restaurant. Explorer maps are available on site for visitors to make the most of the vast estate.
