If the captivating images being returned by NASA’s New Horizons probe – currently venturing through the distant Kuiper Belt – have whet your appetite for exploring our planetary neighbourhood then you’re in luck this month.

On 27th January astronomer and broadcaster Will Gater will be bringing his spectacular live stage show about the planets to the Exeter Phoenix. The Story of the Solar System tells the tale of how our planetary neighbourhood came to be and how the planets were transformed from wandering points of light to familiar worlds – worlds that we’ve now examined up-close with robotic rovers and orbiting spacecraft.

The show brings together incredible imagery and video from recent space missions with live science demonstrations, audience participation and storytelling by Gater. Over 200 seats have already been sold so space fans are encouraged to grab their tickets soon to avoid missing out.

“The Story of the Solar System is my attempt to condense 4.6 billion years of history into one theatre show,” says Gater. “I’m hoping that people will come away from the night with a new appreciation of the truly thrilling era of planetary exploration we’re living in.”

Tickets are available from the Exeter Phoenix box office and website at: https://www.exeterphoenix.org.uk/events/the-story-of-the-solar-system/
