Author and illustrator have designs on festive market
CHILDREN’S author Amy Sparkes and illustrator Susie Tyler are coming to a festive market with a difference this year.
And they plan to use their skills to show children and adults how to illustrate, colour and write their own stories.
Events venue Colliton Barton, which is on the main road between Cullompton and Honiton, is playing host to the market on Sunday, November 15, and as well featuring high quality craft items for sale the organisers are inviting visitors to take part in workshops throughout the day.
Helen Bottrill, one of the organisers of the event, said: “We’re thrilled that Amy and Susie are able to join us this year. They’re both very well known in their fields of work, and respected by adults and children alike. To give children the chance to take part in workshops with them both, is an opportunity not to be missed.”
As well as meeting Amy and Susie, visitors will also have the chance to learn how to make their own artisan items, including printed wrapping paper, willow structures, and felt animals in a series of other workshops taking place during the day.
“Feedback from our previous markets has told us that visitors really want to have a go themselves. So this year, the larger venue means that we can offer workshops to adults and children enabling them to make their own gifts, as well as purchase some beautiful items from the makers themselves,” added Helen.
Visitors can sign up to the workshops by visiting the market’s Facebook page which is: www.facebook.com/BlackboroughArtisanMarket or simply turn up on the day.
The artisan market takes place between 10am – 4pm on Sunday 15 November at Colliton Barton, near Cullompton. There is free parking available and the market is free to enter.
There will be food on offer too, with local gastronomists such as Frandie Macaron, Burrow Farm, Little Van Rouge and The Travelling Pizzeria all in attendance.
