Bob Dylan, The Beaten Path: The Silkscreen Collection

After the sell-out success of Bob Dylan’s legendary The Beaten Path, a series of limited edition hand-signed silkscreen prints have been released and will be on display at Castle Fine Art from next week.

The Beaten Path: The Silkscreen Collection features six hand-signed, coloured silkscreen prints taken from Dylan’s major solo exhibition which took place at the end of last year. The prints will be available to view from Friday 21st April 2017.

The Beaten Path captures iconic images from Dylan’s travels across the main routes and backroads of America. From the exhibition emerge fleeting snapshots of America - one of downbeat motels and traditional diners, forgotten fairgrounds and vintage cars, urban dwellings lit by streetlamps, expansive plains and the open road.

Reminiscing about landscape unpolluted by the ephemera of pop culture, recognisable and universal objects such as donut shops, train tracks, ice cream shacks and bridges can be found in traditional, everyday settings.

Dating back more than 1,000 years, Silkscreening is a printing technique in which areas of a screen comprised of woven mesh stretched on a frame, are selectively masked to create a stencil which forms a negative of the image to be printed. Ink is then pushed through the mesh onto the printing surface, creating a positive image.
The collection offers viewers insight into the world of Dylan, whose artistry has transcended every generation and celebrates a vivid manifestation of a country that continues to enthral, charm and captivate.

2017 marks a triumphant year for Bob Dylan as earlier this year he was awarded a Nobel Prize for Literature, credited with having “created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”, becoming the 259th American to have won a Nobel Prize.

This year also marks the start of his UK tour. The rock icon will play a trio of intimate shows at the London Palladium on April 28, 29 and 30 ahead of his main jaunt in May which coincides with the The release of The Beaten Path: The Silkscreen Collection.
