Much has been published recently over the extraordinary circumstance by which the Brazilian national team’s first ever match was played against our own Exeter City 100 years ago.

A fact like that is worth celebrating, isn’t it? And celebrating is what fans of the club intend to be doing at St James Park on Sun 20 July starting at 2pm.

Everyone associated with the club is hoping to be joined by as many people from this great city as possible.

Up at the Park there will be sideshows, face painters, a magician, barbecue food and the bars will be open!

Music will be provided in the afternoon by Streetheat Samba Band and Daniel Rangel from Brazil playing traditional Brazilian tunes with his friend Henry Dunne.

In the evening Velvet Touch - famous in the South West since the 60s - will be playing. City once played Brazil, but Velvet Touch have supported The Who!

There will be loads for youngsters to see and do too:  Buddy Bear from Crealy Great Adventure park is joining us, as is Basil the Brazilian parrot. There will be a fire engine, football games, Brazilian horse-racing and a few surprise guests too! Radio Exe will be there too.

There will be no parking so travel by bus... Stagecoach are kindly adding a City special open-top to their fleet in the city that afternoon!

So go along and help celebrate our city’s extraordinary place in football history and have a really enjoyable Sunday out in the process.
