CoCo and the Butterfields bring their tour to the West Country
The sensational new folk act CoCo and the Butterfields are gearing up to conquer the nation, in a story about little people achieving great big things. Featuring a totally unique blend of folk, pop and hip-hop they are a band unlike any other, and they have just announced their first official UK tour for Spring 2014.
From humble busking in every corner of the UK to selling out shows at 1,200 seater auditoriums, to say that CoCo and the Butterfields have come a 'long way' during their brief two years of existence would be an understatement.
Their fascinatingly unconventional sound coupled with tenacious perseverance saw them crowned as the UK’s ‘best unsigned act’ at the London 02 amongst over 10,000 competitors at UK Live and Unsigned 2012. They have since racked up a whopping half a million YouTube hits, as well as extensive radio airplay from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, and shared a stage with internationally renowned acts King Charles, Bastille, Seasick Steve, Wheatus and The Pogues. From the humblest of beginnings, CoCo and the Butterfields are now among the most determined up and coming UK artists, spurred on by the simplest of ambitions - to bring their colourful and energetic live performance to as many people as humanly possible.
"There should be a law saying that CoCo and the Butterfields should only be allowed to play outdoor venues as they are so raucous and fun that any indoor space runs the risk of having its roof and walls blown clean away. These guys are just great, infectious and rowdy, just what live music should be." Baylen Leonard, Amazing Radio.
The ‘Little Big Tour’ comes as a precursor to the festival season, and with slots already booked at Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair and Larmer Tree Festival, it looks like 2014 is shaping up to be a busy year indeed. Carrying the band around the country on four wheels will be their charismatic, handpainted and fantastically colourful van ‘Ron’, testament to CoCo and the Butterfields' creativity and willingness to go the 'extra mile' to get noticed!
To truly understand what sets CoCo and the Butterfields apart means going to see them play live, as the sonic combination of violin, guitar, double bass, banjo and beatbox, coupled with serene female vocals and some well placed hip-hop rhymespitting, really needs to be witnessed to be believed. Testimonials from previous major festivals have hailed the band as the weekend's favourites - "CoCo and the Butterfields were far and away the most engaging, animated and exciting band of the festival." Run-Riot.com and "The stand out band from the weekend were CoCo and the Butterfields who absolutely blew the festival away on each day." TheMusicMag.com.
However, out of all the shows they have lined up for 2014, the highlight of the summer for CoCo and the Butterfields will be the release of their upcoming EP See the Sun, which will be launched at the 2,400 seater Margate Winter Gardens on 28th June - Kent's biggest venue.
CoCo and the Butterfields hit the South West on 27 April at St Bartholomew’s, Coffinswell, near Torquay.
